Whites Hill Bush, Bark & Café Loop

5.8 km · 141 m of climb · walking · 12 named stops

Start with some off-leash fun at the Boundary Road dog park, then swap suburbia for the bush tracks of Whites Hill Reserve on this 5.8 km loop, with a welcoming dog-friendly café stop along the way. Wander through open eucalypt forest and pockets of rainforest, keeping an eye out for local wildlife such as koalas, wallabies and powerful owls and short-beaked echidnas, as the trail rolls through hills and dips. This track has a mix of paved, dirt and gravel paths.

Your four-legged companion will need to be back on-leash once you leave the dog park and enter the reserve. Along the way, pass the sporting fields and stop at Café and Bar on Whites Hill for a coffee or bite to eat before continuing through the bushland and looping back to Boundary Road. Allow around 55 minutes of walking, plus extra time for the dog park and café.

Whites Hill is an important wildlife haven surprisingly close to the city. The reserve provides habitat for around 62% of Brisbane’s mammal species, 33% of its amphibians and 27% of its bird species.

Keep an eye out for some of the locals, including koalas, powerful owls, velvet geckos, sacred kingfishers, short-beaked echidnas and Brisbane short-necked turtles.

A moderate walk with 141 metres of total climb over 5.8 km, with a steepest gradient around 15%. A decent workout with some real ups and downs.
